Lord's blessings to Jesus
Assembly
T hank you so much for praying for our church. The provincial
parliament meeting was held last week. This meeting was to
determine if our church would have permission to continue or not.
We presented all our documents as well as the projects and
ministries we have done through our church. They saw the good
things we are doing for the community. We discovered that while the
lower authorities where more opposing in their attitudes the higher
officials are much more open. During our meeting, one of the
leaders showed a keen interest in our church and personally wants
to visit one of our services. Every member of the committee voted
for the continuation of our church and supported our work. We were
so grateful for this. They told us that next month the Buddist
temples will be checked in the same way and that they were going
about these inspections equality and not only checking
Christians.
The reopening of the
church
After the successful meeting, all the
church ministries are reviving and starting again.
This week we visited and prayed for
eight church families. These families were sick or have just had
new babies. When we met with people they all said how much they
were missed church services and thought it was difficult without
them. It seemed like since we stopped the services a kind of
blessing or protection was gone and many people got sick during
this last month. So everyone is so happy about the permission
to meet again. The children are
especially happy to be able to go to Sunday school.
Community ministry
We are working hard toward reaching out
to nonbelievers through community ministries. In the last year we
worked through family ministry and seminars. Now in 2010 we want to
work with youth and children as well as continuing family
counseling. We want to minister to people with addictions, single
mothers, and infants as well. We wrote up projects for these
ministries and World Vision will support them this coming year.
Please pray for these projects to be fruitful and reach those who
don't know the Lord in our community.
This summer's
ministries
The mother's group had a toddler and
small children's summer activity. Mongolians have a tradition of
going to the country in the summer to eat dairy products and bask
in the sun for their health. The local children had a chance then
to do this though they couldn't leave the city. They set up a
Mongolian ger and got sand for the children to play in. They bought
dairy products and opened it up for families who can not afford to
go to the countryside with their children. We also opened a
mother's group in the city of Darhan, two hours away. Mother's
there asked us to help set up a group similar to the one we have
here. They will meet once a month and we will send a representative
from Erdenet each time to teach and assist them. There are many
young mothers in the group who wish to raise their children in the
Lord and need practical advice on how to do that. The mothers have
not had other ladies to meet with and this support group was deeply
appreciated. We were planning to host a (victorious life) seminar
here this summer. Since the church was closed, the seminar was held
in UlaanBaatar instead. About 50 people from our church attended.
Everyone came away blessed and all felt they had learned many new
things. Greetings from Jesus Assembly, Though the government has
authority over us and can open and close our meetings, the Lord has
all authority in His hand. All honor and praise to the Lord!
Introduction to Jesus Assembly
Community of Blessing mercy ministries.
Our church Jesus Assembly was started
in 1993. Three years later the Lord reminded us to care for the
poor through a word from Isaiah 58:7-8. In the beginning,
the church had no finances for mercy
ministries. Church members shared
food and other necessities from their
own homes and we were able through their
giving to gather and feed the poorest
children in our area. We fed street children,
orphans, and other children from very
low income homes.
Today our mercy ministry has
four parts:
Feeding program
We select from twenty to forty orphans
yearly for a five day a week feeding
program. Along with a warm meal they
receive Bible lessons and other educational
tutorials. The program is run during
the school year.
Holy Hospice Ministry
This ministry is for cancer patients
who are sent home from the hospital with
little time left to live. The workers
visit these people's homes to care for them
practically and try to alleviate their
suffering as well as they can. They pray for
the patients and share the Gospel with
them.
Infant Care
This is primarily aimed at countering
abortion. We provide counsel and support
to mothers who are considering
abortion. We offer them options of adoption or
practical help if they chose to keep
their babies.
One family, in particular, has been
called to this ministry. They have helped
rescue a newborn that was found alive
in a dumpster, several mothers who
had thought to have abortions and
decided to keep their babies after some
practical help, and helping a baby who
was dangerously malnourished.
Single mothers
The single mothers ministry offers help
for widows, abandoned families, and
divorcees who have little or no
financial resources. These women are particularly
vulnerable to rape and other harassment
if they live alone. We offer them
simple accommodation rent free on the
mercy ministry property to give them
and their children a more protected
environment.
The mercy ministry was laid down for
several years from 2006-2007 due to lack of
finances. We reopened it last year,
funded completely by the church. Twenty children
were taught and fed after school. The
difficult side of things is that we were
not able to financially help or support
the people who worked there. Another sad
thing is that the building is has
become very run down. It is so far gone that it is
more cost effective to build something
new. We have not been able to decide what
to do about it yet. We would like to
continue in the old building in the meantime but
are not able to get permission from the
government to continue without a better
facility. Last year we ran the feeding
program there without permission and do not
feel we can do that again this year. We
would welcome advice and prayer in this
area as well.
Building
Please continue to pray about the
purchase of a building for the
church. The owner of the "Daginas"
building continues to ask us if
we are interested in buying. We answer that we want to and
ask him
to please wait a little longer.
